Created entirely outdoors from direct observation in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains in 2026, this original oil painting explores the dramatic relationship between clouds, light, and mountain silhouettes. Massive silver-gray clouds fill the sky above a quiet blue mountain ridge. Their sculptural forms and subtle variations of cool and warm tones became the main subject of this plein air study. Using confident, expressive brushwork, I wanted to capture the weight and movement of the clouds, as well as the fleeting atmosphere of a mountain landscape constantly transformed by the weather.
