Painted plein air in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, this work celebrates the richness of a summer garden at the height of the season.
What drew me to this scene was the vibrant rhythm of the purple bellflowers stretching across the foreground. I painted them with expressive, textured brushstrokes, allowing the thick layers of oil paint to echo the abundance and movement of the flowers themselves. Behind them, a quiet garden and a small wooden gazebo emerge softly through the foliage, creating a sense of depth and calm.
For me, this painting is about the joy of midsummer—when nature is at its fullest, every color feels more intense, and even an ordinary corner of a garden becomes something quietly magical.
