“Between the Rooftops” captures a quiet Mediterranean moment filled with warm sunlight, blooming gardens, and the soft rhythm of coastal architecture. This painting was inspired by a plein air session during my travels in Turkey, where narrow streets, glowing stone walls, and layers of terracotta rooftops created endless compositions shaped by light.
What drew me most was the contrast between the cool violet shadows and the intense sunlit passages leading the eye downward through the scene. The greenery and flowers soften the geometry of the architecture, creating a sense of calm and intimacy — as if discovering a hidden corner suspended between the rooftops and the sea.
Painted outdoors from direct observation, this artwork preserves the spontaneous brushwork and atmospheric light that can only be captured on location.
