Painted entirely from life during a plein air painting trip in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains in 2026, this original oil painting captures a quiet moment of everyday rural life.
Traditional wooden farm buildings with steep roofs stand against the green mountain slopes, while chickens wander freely through the sunlit yard. What attracted me to this scene was its simplicity and authenticity, along with the beautiful contrast between the warm sunlight on the grass and the cool blue-violet shadows of the buildings.
Using loose, expressive brushstrokes, I focused on capturing the natural light, atmosphere, and character of this peaceful Carpathian village.
Completed entirely outdoors, directly from observation, the painting preserves the spontaneity of plein air painting and celebrates the unpretentious beauty of rural Ukraine.
