This painting was created during my painting trip to the Costa Brava, Spain, inspired by the wild coastal vegetation overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
What drew me to this view was the striking contrast between the richly textured wild grasses and flowers in the foreground and the calm blue distance of the sea beyond. I painted the vegetation with expressive, layered brushstrokes to emphasize its tactile quality, allowing the flowers and grasses to feel vibrant, alive, and almost tangible.
The Mediterranean light illuminated every stem and blossom, transforming an ordinary patch of wild plants into a celebration of color, texture, and sunlight. For me, this painting is about the beauty that grows freely, framed by the endless horizon of the sea.
