Painted plein air on the Costa Brava, Spain, this study captures a solitary coastal rock surrounded by the restless Mediterranean.
I was drawn to the dialogue between the solid, sun-warmed stone and the endless movement of the sea. The rock feels timeless, while the water changes from one moment to the next, its white foam dissolving into soft blue-green reflections. Using expressive palette-knife-like brushwork and confident oil strokes, I wanted to preserve both the rugged texture of the cliffs and the fleeting sparkle of the waves.
For me, this painting is about the quiet strength of the coastline—where the sea never stops moving, yet the landscape remains enduring and calm.
