Painted en plein air on Spain’s Costa Brava in 2026, this painting celebrates the remarkable clarity of the Mediterranean Sea.
The rugged limestone cliffs descend directly into water so transparent that the underwater rocks become part of the composition. Rather than separating land and sea, I wanted to paint the way sunlight unites them—warming the stone while revealing countless shades of turquoise, emerald, sapphire, and deep blue beneath the surface.
Using expressive, textured brushstrokes, I focused on capturing the ever-changing movement of light across the water rather than every geological detail. The result is an impression of a place where the Mediterranean feels both vibrant and serene, inviting the viewer to linger at the shoreline and experience its quiet beauty.
